How the quiz works
The quiz has four inputs: state (because every downstream rule is state-conditional), offense category (misdemeanor, non-violent felony, violent felony, sex offense, DUI, drug offense), years since completion of all sentence requirements, and current supervision status.
The output is one of four statute-cited result kinds:
- Likely automatic — if you live in a Clean Slate state and meet the trigger conditions, the state should seal your record without you filing.
- Petition eligible — you appear eligible to file. The state page lists the form, fee, and venue.
- Not yet eligible— your wait period hasn't elapsed. We compute the earliest date.
- Likely excluded— your offense category may not qualify under your state's law. An attorney may still see options.
