About
About CleanSlateCheck.us
Roughly 70 million Americans have a criminal record. Most have no accessible way to find out whether their record qualifies for relief — the law varies state to state, and the closest national resources are encyclopedic, not interactive. CleanSlateCheck.us exists to bridge that gap.
What we are
We're an independent information hub. We research the eligibility rules in all 50 states and DC, encode them into an interactive eligibility quiz, and publish the per-state details (statute, wait period, fee, court venue, exclusions) on a single accessible site. When you want a licensed attorney to take it from there, we connect you with a vetted local expungement attorney through our partner network.
What we are not
We are not a law firm. We do not represent you. Nothing on the site is legal advice. The eligibility quiz returns a research-grounded answer about your statutory situation; it does not analyze the facts of your case. State law changes; the data on the site is verified continuously but never instantaneous.
Editorial team
The eligibility data and educational content are researched and drafted by the CleanSlateCheck.us editorial team, led by:
- Editor-in-Chief: Dušan Janković. Founder. Coordinates research, statute verification, and editorial review. Reachable at [email protected].
Statute citations and procedural details are reviewed against state legislative and court sources before publication. Each state page carries a per-statute primary-source URL and a last-verified date.
Attorney review
Per-state eligibility is verified against state legislative, court-system, and AG-office primary sources. We do not have a third-party attorney reviewer attached to the editorial team — rather than fabricate one, we say so directly. Where a result depends on facts we can't analyze (specific charge, exact disposition, timing), the eligibility quiz routes the user to a licensed local expungement attorney via lawyer-match.
How we're funded
CleanSlateCheck.us is funded by referral fees from our partner attorney network. When you engage an attorney we connect you with, our partner pays us a referral fee. The fee is paid by the partner network — not by you — and does not change the price you pay or the attorney's independent professional duty to you. The site may also display advertising, which is clearly labeled.
Privacy posture
We treat the audience's privacy as a hard design constraint. We do not log specific quiz answers as identifying detail. Our analytics records aggregate state and outcome counts only. We do not sell, share, or transfer personal information for marketing. Read the full privacy policy.
