In one paragraph

The audience here is sensitive to surveillance, and we treat that as a hard design constraint. We never log your specific quiz answers. We never sell, share, or transfer your information for marketing. The only data we collect is aggregate analytics (state and outcome counts) and information you explicitly submit to the lawyer-match form.

What we collect

  • Aggregate analytics: which state pages are viewed, which quiz outcome a session ended on, page-load performance. Sent to Google Analytics with anonymized IP and ad data redaction enabled. Never linked to you.
  • Lawyer-match intake (only if you submit the form): state of conviction, optional brief description, email. Used only to route the intake to a partner attorney network. Not used for any other purpose.
  • Cookie consent state: whether you accepted or declined analytics. Stored in your browser's localStorage so we don't re-prompt.

What we never collect

  • Your specific quiz answers as identifying detail (your offense, year, supervision status, in any combination that could identify a person).
  • Your IP address in identifiable form (analytics IPs are anonymized).
  • Information from third-party data brokers.
  • Background check information about you.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics with Consent Mode v2 set to default-DENIED. That means until you accept the cookie banner, no analytics identifiers are written to your browser. If you decline, none are written ever. If you accept, a standard GA4 measurement ID is stored to track aggregate usage with anonymized IP.

Third parties

  • Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics, with anonymization.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery network; sees standard CDN-level request data.
  • Partner attorney networks (e.g. Best Case Leads, Legal Brand Marketing) — only data you explicitly submit through the lawyer-match form, only for routing the match.

We do not share your data with advertisers, social media platforms, or data brokers. We do not run third-party tracking pixels.

Categories of personal information collected

  • Identifiers: email address (only if you submit the lawyer-match form), IP-address-derived approximate region (analytics only, never persisted in identifiable form)
  • Internet activity: page-view counts, quiz outcome (state + result kind only — not your specific answers)
  • Geolocation: ZIP code (only if you submit the lawyer-match form, optional)
  • Professional information: nothing collected automatically; offense category only if you submit the form

We do not collect: government IDs, financial information, biometrics, precise geolocation, sensitive personal information beyond what you voluntarily submit, or data from minors under 13.

Retention horizons

  • Lawyer-match intake: 30 days in active queue; older entries archived encrypted or deleted.
  • Analytics: 14 months in Google Analytics 4 (default retention).
  • Cookie consent state: 12 months in browser localStorage (you can clear at any time).

Your rights — CCPA, CPRA, and similar US state laws

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by CPRA, and similar laws in Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Virginia (VCDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA), and others, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you.
  • Delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny service for exercising any of these rights.

We do not sell or sharepersonal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not have a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link because the underlying activity is not happening — but if you want a confirmation in writing, email us.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal. If your browser sends a GPC header on a request, we treat it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (consistent with our existing posture of not selling/sharing in the first place).

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the site, email us and we will delete it on confirmation.

Exercising your rights

Email [email protected] with the request and the email address you used (or the approximate date of the lawyer-match submission). We respond within 45 days as required by the strictest applicable state law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling deletion or correction requests; for an email-only collection, confirmation usually means replying from the original address.
